Memory of your 1st Game
Played my first game in the 6's in "I" grade. We had the pleasure of venturing to Pat Rollo reserve to play Pines. Fair too say it was not in those days the salubrious venue it has now become. One of my new shoes purchased for the big occasion was punctured when I stood on a broken beer bottle that was hidden in the tyre marks generously left in abstract patterns by trail bike artiste's across the breadth of the arena.
I batted at 5 and was in by the end of the second over of the day and out not much later. We got beaten badly ( and lost the cricket as well) but I got a another bat in the second innings and made 50* which gave me some confidence that I was capable of performing to the dizzy heights required in "I" grade. 5 games later the seemingly endless weeks of toil and hard yakka were rewarded when the fairy-tale was complete and we had won the flag in my 6th game for the club.
Career highlights
Winning three premierships. 6's 3's 1's
I am too humble to actually say I picked up and carried 10 passengers to victory in each flag, so I will just let the engravings on the MOTM medals speak for themselves.
